Smoothing out the path.

Isaiah 26:7 -- But for those who are righteous, the way is not steep and rough. You are a God who does what is right, and you smooth out the path ahead of them.

I adore this verse, but tonight I read it a little bit differently.

I often find myself eager or excited about what God is doing in my life...and I start trying to tell him what I think that he is doing. But the last chunk of this verse just humbled my heart quite a bit....

God smooths out the path ahead of us. Whatever the path is...he's smoothing it out. Sometimes we may not see it as 'smoothing out' because our eyes are focused on what we thought he was going to 'smooth out'. But the reality is...every situation...every moment...everything in our lives leads to His plan for us. He is guiding us even when we cannot see that he is.

That will blow your mind, won't it?

Someday it will all make sense...and we'll be able to look back and laugh, but until then:

1 Corinthians 13:12 -- Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

It's soooooo easy to start worrying, praying frantically, and thinking that God isn't answering our prayers fast enough...but the truth is he is smoothing out the path ahead of us because he is a God who does what is right. Even if it makes absolutely no sense from our perspective.

I'm in awe right now.

So no matter what direction you're going in or how out of control you feel...give your all to Jesus because he knows what he's doing and regardless of your feelings, he is smoothing out the path ahead of you. Get on board with what he is doing in your life and you will find joy and peace!

Jeremiah 29:11 -- For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

God's not planning on tricking you, misguiding you, misinterpreting you...every good and perfect thing comes from him and he delights in your life. He wants to bless you and lift you up in honor...if you would give him full reign on your heart and life. He won't relent until he has it all. Live for Him.

Psalm 37:23 -- The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.

Stop trying to lift up your name or the names of others and lift up the only name worthy of our praise. Seek him wholeheartedly, make this the cry of your heart:

Psalm 143:6 -- I lift my hands to you in prayer. I thirst for you as parched land thirsts for rain.

Psalm 63:1 -- O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

Psalm 63:8 -- I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely.

Psalm 76:4 -- You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains!

Psalm 86:11 -- Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.

Let the glory of Your name, be the passion of the church!

Don't worry because God has it all under control. How amazing is that?

1 Peter 5:7 -- Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Philippians 4:6 -- Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
