God-shaped hole.

I'm pretty sure we've all seen this toy before. It's a very handy toy that parents can use to teach their children the concepts of shape and size.

This week God showed me that my heart is a lot like this toy. He has made some very specific holes in my heart and my entire life I've been searching for the right shape to fit into these holes.

I've tried to fit my best friends, cute boys, future hopes and dreams, activities...nothing fits perfectly into the places in my heart.

You know why? God made those holes specifically because only he can fill them.

There are God-shaped holes in my heart and no matter how many times I try and try and try; only he can fill that emptiness, only he can supply that need.

Colossians 3:11 -- Christ is all that matters and he's living in all of us.

Jesus didn't create me and you so that we would feel empty. He created us so that when we seek him with all of our heart and intend to serve him all of our days; we will be filled. We will overflow with his love and joy. We will have confident hope in his name.

Let's stop trying to fit other things in our hearts when it's exactly where God is meant to be. And only him.
