Open Hands.

I have trouble understanding that God is sovereign in every situation.

I am currently stepping away from social media in an effort to better understand what God defines as a woman of Christ, a follower of Christ, and life without Satan's deceitful lies. I know that it's impossible to live without sin, but I'd like to see more of God's perspective instead of the cultural view I've acquired as an eighteen year old living in California. My experience on this earth has been shaped and molded by many industries, organizations, and that effects my relationship with Jesus Christ. It effects my entire view of God's love and sovereignty.

And then I came across these verses.

1 Peter 1:6-7 -- So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold-- though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.

The 'trials' that I am alluding to is understanding who God is. Because I have to change my entire perspective of who I have thought him to be and how I have looked at his children. It's time to take off my 'worldly' glasses and see through lenses that restore and redeem rather than tear down his children.

1 Peter 2:1-2 -- So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealous, and all unkind speech. Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness.

I have to take an entire new perspective. I have to let the Lord transform me into a new person by changing the way that I think (Romans 12:2). I have to let the Holy Spirit guide my life (Galatians 5:16). When I call, he will answer-- but I have to give him control. I can't just listen and say that I need to change. I have to let him change me.

1 Corinthians 4:20 -- For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God's power.

It's not God's fault things are going wrong, it's not his fault we don't understand, he doesn't hate us, he hasn't forgotten about us, he isn't leaving us to fend for ourselves---- He's waiting for us to give him control. He's waiting for us to allow him to redeem our perspective. He's willing to do all the things we need for him to do; we just need to be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10). And he is good.

Hand everything over to God.
Ask him to reveal what you haven't handed over yet.
Hand that over.
Ask him again.
Ask him how to hand that over.
Then hand it over.
Ask him to restore your soul.
Ask him to change your perspective.
Allow him to change your perspective.
Be made new.
Rest in his presence.

James 1:5-8 -- If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

Allow God to make you stable in all that you do. Don't be divided. Hand it all over.

If I give it all to you, will you make it all new?
If I open up my hands, will you fill them again?

Psalm 62:5-7 -- Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone, He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.
